So apropos of nothing, Trump announced that the USA would importing a bunch of tariff-free beef from a mystery country. You know everything is above-board by how much stuff is hidden from the American public. Definitely a guy working on behalf of our best interests and not some shady con-artist yelling "look over there!" and reaching for your drink.

Such a sweetheart deal that you know it's going to a crony. And sure enough, people widely suspect that the country is Argentina, which has a crazy right-winger in office and wouldn't you know it, is having some pretty serious economic problems. So weird that those two things keep coinciding.

While not directly connected to this story, it sort of sets the tone - back in March, China rejected a 22-ton beef shipment from Argentina because they found the antibiotic chloramphenicol in the meat, which is banned for meat production in both Argentina and China. So...how'd it get there? I suppose atlas shrugged, then drugged. (btw, widespread antibiotic use for livestock is a very serious thing due to the potential for creating antibiotic-resistant disease. But it's pretty far-fetched to say that some sort of outbreak would hamper the global economy or one's lifestyle in the 21st century)

And within days of this crazy, non-transparent and frankly, shady af plan being announced, it already triggered a beef recall in Texas and Florida
Corte Argentino USA LLC, located in Aventura, Florida, recalled approximately 29,628 pounds of raw beef imported from Argentina
FSIS classified the recall as a Class I health hazard, its highest recall classification. The agency defines a Class I recall as a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that consuming the product could cause serious adverse health consequences or death.

Let's ship it all to the white house lawn. Let it rot.
