There are more people living in Liechtenstein (~40k) than there are rhinos in the world. Rhino species run the gamut from low numbers to very nearly extinct, so every loss is keenly felt. You can't hunt even one rhino and call yourself a conservationist, let alone multiple rhinos.

Yes, giving some blood money to the parks is good and all, but you know what's way better than giving the parks some money and hunting down their animals for fun? Giving the parks some money and taking photos from a respectful distance! Win-Win!
In a sane world, a world not driven by insatiable greed and boundless cruelty, people with means would recognize the beauty and wonder of nature. They would see it as an asset and do their best to preserve it for posterity, not come in guns blazing like a bloodthirsty psychopath. I can't say I'm happy he died by misadventure there, but I'm not any more broken up about it than he was broken up about the rhinos that died at his hand. What comes around, goes around.
