Chip-8 Sterling engine-powered computer

Post by theantithesis »

This is the kind of weird thing I kinda dig. Chip-8 is a programming language I've at least heard of and know it was similar to the RCA Studio II video game console from the 70's.There is some kind of connection. I know that much.

The weird thing about it is there are several models of sterling engine with a USB-out so you can charge your phone with 1800's technology, if you want.

Still light years ahead of the 8080 and z80 processor that we programmed with address and data latches, LOL. I preferred the Motorola 68xx devices myself, but it seemed like most design teams ended up using the Intel 8085 and so on.

Hell, the 80s were the best. MTV, new wave, new tech with so much promise. We blasted The Police, The Cars, REM, The Clash, The Cure, Thomas Dolby in the lab while working on electronics design late into the night.

Shoulda known it would all go to hell eventually.
