Yeah, I think I was so stunned seeing ribbit that I missed the significance of that, too.

I missed some important stuff in Murder Drones on my first through third viewings, though some of that stuff was on screen for literally 7 frames, so I dunno how much of that is on me.

"Show don't tell" can be good advice for creators to a certain extent, but the audience needs some telling every now and then, too.

I was so sure that *someone* on the command prompt saying "delete this mfer" was pretty convincing evidence of some sort of third party who hates Caine. But the majority of the fandom seems to think that Caine was talking about himself that way, which strikes me as a strange take-away. How on earth is that the most logical option?

I maintain that TADC is a fantastic show and really raised the bar when it comes to indie shows and the character writing is fantastic, but it's kind of a mess, especially when you dig into certain areas. Like everyone but Pomni being stuck in the digital circus for years but never talking about the real world until they sat down for drinks with Pomni. Or no one else figuring out that Kinger is more lucid in the dark. Or no one but Kinger figuring out manifesting and apparently not sharing that information until very late in the show, especially in times when it would've been very, very, very useful, like episode 3 where Pomni and Kinger get stuck in hell (Ragatha even directly asked him about it after he summoned a butterfly to restore of one of her hearts, but it was in a bright area, so no joy there)

I watched a video from someone who knows about computer...stuff. Apparently, what was going on then was some sort of security feature, designed to confuse unauthorized users by doing things like reversing Y/N responses and such.

I likely saw the same video. IIRC, the command to stop a process is the "kill" command but for understandable reasons, Gooseworx opted to not portray it that way since non-tech-savy viewers would likely misinterpret that.

Still, those Y/N reversals seemed to deliberately steer Kinger towards the delete option, not towards foiling an attempt to delete Caine, so it doesn't seem to make a lot of sense as a security feature. If anything, that fits more with a third party egging Kinger on to delete.

What would make sense as a security feature is the WACKYTIME_LOCKOUT loading more and more - giving Kinger a limited time to do anything.

New Helluva Boss!

No mission this time, just Stolas and Moxxie yes-anding. Good on them for abandoning the evil twin thing. That's not only cliche, it's mildly offensive.

More shows need normal twin representation - identical, fraternal - but their own people who yes, are very similar but NOT the same person. Basically do as few of these as possible. (Though I can confirm that mistaking one twin for another is a very real thing) Just write two people with very similar personalities/upbringing with different interests and goals.

E.G. James Bond's fraternal twin is a naval commander, very faithful to his wife, and his favorite movie is Mission Impossible. Nevertheless, he smuggles James Bond somewhere while James is an international fugitive.

2 years after the Murder Drones series finale and we finally have time to give J some character development. She gets more screen time here than the actual show lol.

I loved it and it just confirmed a lot of stuff that fans had largely correctly guessed at anyway. The JNV trio is not mentally well. And J's survival strategy is projecting a corporate persona masking deep sorrow and intense fear. (Bear in mind that the only time she disobeyed orders, things turned out very badly for her and pretty much everyone else, so it makes sense to adopt a Yes Man mentality in response to that trauma)

I plan on diving deep into this stuff in my upcoming fanfic (the events of the manor to pilot - so we're talking the creation of the Murder Drones, the war for Earth, colony wipes on human/drone held planets, and finally ending at the start the pilot. Might try my hand at some post-finale events, depending on how it's received)
