Minus 50 USD: Blizzard is suing Project Ascension (a very popular WoW private server with lots of fan-made features, like mix-n-match abilities and talents)
This after they successfully got Turtle WoW shuttered. That was also a very popular private WoW server with a very dedicated fanbase. As the name implies, it focused on a comparatively slow leveling speed, but the community was reportedly very friendly and helpful)
So how's everyone else's weekend going?
Any gamers around here?
Re: Any gamers around here?
Been having a good time on City of Heroes. Just unlocked Dark Mastery, and the toggleable Murky Cloud power gives my character, Nightburn, glowing magenta eyes. Looks cool. Also, it grants her resistance to half a dozen energy types or whatever. lol
Also, this is unironically the game I'm most excited about, when it comes to recent announcements.

Re: Any gamers around here?
Dark is good, though depending on the archetype, the powers vary from amazing to mediocre, and they typically have an unusually large cast time, which I'm not very fond of. But the powers do look cool AF, especially Midnight Grasp when it's black/red colored.
I often already have enough active abilities when I get to the point of unlocking the ancillary powers, so I often opt for Energy Mastery for the pretty nice passive/toggleable buffs. Increasing max endurance is hugely underrated - it's much more important than it seems. When you improve max endurance, you also improve your rate of endurance recovery - so you have both a larger pool and it refills faster. That can be a decisive advantage, especially if your powers use a lot of endurance.
I also like the villain patron powers. It requires a few missions on the red side, but Mace and Mu mastery are amazing options, and Soul mastery is a lot like Dark mastery.

Re: Any gamers around here?
Nightburn is a Dominator, so a lot of her powers are centered around crowd control. I almost went with Fire Mastery for the Fire Ball and Rise of the Phoenix, but Dark Mastery seemed more practical for my playstyle. Nightburn is kinda squishy, so Murky Cloud makes her more resistant to several damage types. Other dark powers reduce an enemy's potential damage and chance to hit, and one knocks enemies back. I see myself making much more use of these powers than I would have the fire ones.
Re: Any gamers around here?
Yep. Ancillary powers are intended to beef up areas where your archetype is normally pretty weak, making your character more well-rounded and resilient for the more difficult taskforce missions. So a squishy archetype taking damage resist is a very good choice.
Fire is advisable only when you're lacking in damage or you deliberately want your glass cannon to become more cannony or it fits a theme. My fire/temporal manipulation blaster has it, but only because temporal manipulation is fairly tanky with decent crowd control. Plus, it fits the theme.

Re: Any gamers around here?
Yeah, I noticed some of the powers in those sets are literally just copy/pasted from what's normally available to other archetypes. If you're a Sentinel and pick Fire Mastery, you can get Fire Cages and Char, both of which I already have as a Dominator.
Re: Any gamers around here?
That's because Sentinels were never in the original game. They were added in by fans who kept the game alive after shutdown. Lots of stuff is like that. It doesn't make sense from a design standpoint because everything is kludged together with duct tape and sheet metal and fairy lights.

My brother has suggested playing this game:
Not normally my cup of tea, but I could be persuaded.
